"Hamish Maguire together with Naked Wines invited 100 to a visit to this winery for a marvellous meal & wine tastings, showing us over their winery after having picked about half of us up in 2 buses from Adelaide - the other 50 drove themselves. Our glasses were filled with Sparkling Shiraz, Sav Blanc, Shiraz Tempranillo & Shiraz Mataro Grenache - all of which were very drinkable, especially the bubbly red. “Went to this vineyard to check out our recent discovery of the 2012 Merlot. We were greeted by a really warm friendly staff member who unfortunately I did not get her name. Nothing was a trouble at all for this staff member who was really helpful with each of our tastings without being over the top. Discovered a lovely sparkling white wine which was a hit when I took some to have for dinner later that night. Enjoyed all of the reds and would rate the 2012 Shiraz as highly as the same vintage Merlot. Finished the tasting by ordering a shipment to be delivered back to Sydney whilst also purchasing a few more bottles to enjoy whilst still in Adelaide. “I discovered Shottesbrooke Winery after wanting to have a picnic in McLaren and coming across their Picker's Hut. It is the perfect location for a picnic in any weather, since the hut is installed with transparent blinds that can be pulled down to create walls. The scenery is picturesque, located between the vineyards and a creek. Let's not forget the Winery itself! While it doesn't have a restaurant or cafe like many others, they have a cellar door where their high quality wines can be purchased. The service we received was excellent also. She made time to discuss all of the wines and adjusted the information and discussion to suit all of our different knowledge levels and catering to our individual tastes.
